Recently, an act of gun violence left toddler Elijah LaFrance dead in Miami. On April 25th, Elijah was shot and killed while attending a birthday party. A woman attending the party, whose identity has not been released to the public yet, was also injured during the shooting.
NBC News reports that “The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.” The woman who was shot was rushed to the hospital as well but later was in stable condition.
Local 10 has stated that the birthday party was being held for Elijah LaFrance. Information about the house is limited besides the fact that it was an Airbnb that was being rented out specifically for the party.
The location of the party was on Northeast 158th Street according to Miami Herald. The shooting took place at approximately 8:02-8:05 pm. Speaking on the matter, the neighbor of the resident comments on the case stating “I would say there were anywhere from 30 to 50 shots.”
It has been reported that there was an altercation outside the residence, leading to guns being fired. Police director Alfredo Ramierez comments on the tragedy, saying the people who are “responsible for the shooting will be found and held accountable.”
There is little information on the suspects and limited information regarding the case. If you or anyone you know has anything to report, it is urged you to contact the Miami-Dade police department in hopes of getting justice for Elijah.
