There has been a lot of talk about Healdsburg High School football games moving to the school, rather than being at historic Rec Park.

There has been a lot of talk about Healdsburg High School football games moving to the school, rather than being at historic Rec Park. Many have been opposed to this, and lots of parents have taken to social media about the move. There have been sides to both parts of the conflict, as some say moving it to the high school will make it more convenient. Others say that Rec Park is too nostalgic for people to want to leave. If you speak to many students around the school, they can argue both sides of the move. Some would like to stay at Rec because of the experience it brings, as well as the nicer environment it has for football. Other students say that bringing the high school football team to the actual high school would be easier as it would allow for other activities to be done at Rec Park once football season is in full swing.

I interviewed a current student, Jack Domenichelli, and asked him how he felt about the football team trying to move the games to the high school, and he was in full support of the move. “I want them to move to the high school so we can have our baseball field back. Rec Park is a baseball field, not a football field. The high school is built more like a football field. They said they will build new stands and a snack shack at the high school if they move.”

There are many ways the school and staff have tried to go about this situation, and in the end, they have decided to keep football at Rec park for the foreseeable future. With an environmental impact study, they have concluded that they can not have a crowd larger than 250 people at the high school. You decide. Would you keep Healdsburg Football at notorious Rec Park, or move it to the high school field?
