This year, Healdsburg High will be able to return to celebrating the traditional Homecoming events, including a Homecoming dance at the school, for the first time in two years. All homecoming events were canceled last year Due to COVID protocols, so everyone is excited to have some fun with friends and make amazing memories with everyone again this year.

Sophia Turic, a freshman at the Healdsburg High School, was interviewed about what she thinks about the 2021 HHS Homecoming that is set to take place on October 23, 2021. She said that she likes the theme; she said, ¨it will be fun to decorate and dress up.¨ When asked about where she would like the dance to be held, she believed it would be best if it was held outside since it may be too crowded inside.

There will also be floats and parades again this year. In a return to tradition, all grades will build a float reflecting the Homecoming theme and compete against each other. The Homecoming theme this year is “Cities” with each class choosing a city as their individual float theme. The floats will be on display during the parade through town which is scheduled for 3:45 pm, and they will also parade around the field at Recreation Park during halftime of the football game. After the float parade, the Homecoming Royalty winners will be announced and crowned, and they will depart in vehicles generously provided by McConnell Chevrolet. Sophia expressed that it will be lots of fun to build and decorate her class float, and she added that she is excited to see the floats of all of the classes. Gauging from the buzz in the class meetings for each grade, students in the other classes are also very excited for Homecoming.

The Homecoming dance will be held in the cafeteria with many decorations and lights! At the Homecoming dance, there will be an amazing DJ and a photo booth. If students have a guest from another school, the guest must show a record of their covid vaccination or proof of a negative covid test within 72 hours of the dance.

The Leadership Club encourages all students to participate in the Homecoming events, and especially in the Spirt Week by dressing up and having fun!
